My name is Nikita Samoylenko, and I am an incoming candidate for MSc. Economics at the University of Warwick. My interests span Central Banking, International Economics, and Global Health.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Magna Cum Laude, with Departmental Honors double majoring in Political Science & Economics. My undergraduate years in Wilmington gave me a solid foundation and rigorous training in both fields and allowed me to dive deep in my interests.
In the Fall of 2023, I formed part of the UNCW Fed Challenge team. I analyzed labor market dynamics and consumer sentiment to aid our presentation team in delivering a policy proposal for the Fed. Our team rose to meet the challenge, winning the Federal Reserve Disrict 5 (Richmond Region-South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and D.C.) and finishing top 6 in the country. We were formally invited to the Federal Reserve where we were able to meet other teams, network with economists, and meet the big man himself, Jerome Powell.

My time on the UNCW Fed Challenge team spurred my interests in studying the phenomena of inflation, its consequences, and how central banks around the world fight against it. In April 2024, I presented my research, Harmony of Independence: Central Banks and the Inflation Waltz, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

I created this blog to share my passion for economics and to highlight some of the most pressing events occurring in the world. In my free time, you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee, catching up on my reading, or cheering on FC Barcelona.
